Between Champagne and Burgundy, 20 minutes from Troyes, a 19th-century villa of Anglo-Norman inspiration and its 3-hectare park with a swimming pool. Located along a municipal road at the village exit, the property is traversed by a stream. It opens with a wrought-iron gate that gives access to its right to three buildings: a main outbuilding, a barn, and a garage.
Facing this complex and accessible by a bridge, the villa reveals itself in the middle of the park, grassed and wooded. Perpendicularly, two chalk pavilions face each other, probably dating from before the villa’s construction.
On the left, the first building is topped with a steep roof of old tiles. A dormer with a triangular pediment animates the roof while a tall brick chimney stack marks the ridgeline. The sober facades alternate stone and plaster, underscored by a trellis decor suggesting wisteria or climbing roses softening the volumes. Rising two levels, the small building comprises four rooms of about twenty square meters each, in addition to the entrance. The interior is entirely to be renovated.
Facing the first dwelling, the main residence asserts a more substantial presence. Taller and more slender, it uses the same materials: limestone for facade dressing, brick for bonding, and flat tiles for the various roofs. Hidden behind large trees that gradually reveal it, and likely built at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries, it is characterized by an eclectic architecture, mixing regionalist influences then in vogue: decorative half-timbering, tall slender gables, ornate dormers, and steep, sharply pitched roofs forming a singular silhouette. The dormers, brick bands, and the central solid-wood door recall Belle Époque architecture. Three stories with a basement, the villa on the ground floor hosts living spaces (a living room, a family room, and a kitchen, in addition to an entrance and an office, notably), while the upper floors contain eight bedrooms and four bathrooms or shower rooms, among other communication or storage spaces.
