This is a very beautiful house, completely restored, and located in Grury, a quiet village in the south of Burgundy. The house is currently used as a holiday home and is rented out as a gîte.
In the village there is a shop where you can buy basic necessities and there is a social centre of the commune where you can go for a coffee and get your bread and newspaper in the morning. The municipality of Grury has 577 inhabitants. It is located in a rural area, where there is a lot of cattle breeding. There is a school in the village for the little ones, the older ones take the schoolbus to the college about 10 km away. There are many hiking trails in the village and the area is also very suitable for mountain biking and sport cycling. Beautiful hills and beautiful views. Forests and grasslands.
You access the estate via a lovely private driveway under the trees to the front door. Plenty of parking in front of the house. You enter through the front door into the entrance hall. This is a beautiful, spacious entrance hall with an open ceiling that brings in light from the upper floor. In the entrance hall there is a separate toilet, a bathroom with shower and sink (connection for a washing machine and dryer) and built-in wardrobes with plenty of storage space.
From the entrance hall you enter the large kitchen. An open plan kitchen with dining area. Very practical new kitchen with all appliances and a beautiful red terracotta floor and a ceiling with exposed beams. The cooking is done by gas, the oven is electric. There is an extractor hood above the oven. A dishwasher is installed. This room is heated with a wood burning stove which is placed under a beautiful decorative fireplace.
On the other side of the entrance hall, you will find the living room. Very comfortable space. Spacious and lots of light thanks to the large glass door leading out to the terrace. There is a beautiful beige tile floor in this living room. This room is heated with a pellet stove. There is an open staircase leading to the upper floor. Beautiful ceiling with white exposed beams.
Behind the living room is a lovely bright room with lots of glass that is currently used as an office. From here you have a very nice view of the surrounding hills. There is a beautiful parquet .There is a sink in this room and there is also a hatch through which the fireplace can be swept through. Very practical! No dust and soot in the living room! Well thought out.
From the living room we can go up a wooden staircase to the 1st floor. The entire upper floor is covered with wooden flooring.
The 1st bedroom has a beautiful view of the lake which is in the centre of the village. This room has a double bed and a chest of drawers. The 2nd bedroom is much larger. Here is a large built-in wardrobe, a double bed, a chest of drawers and a sitting area with rotan chairs. In this room there is a trapdoor leading to the attic. This attic is insulated. There is enough room in the large bedroom to make a staircase to more easily access the attic and possibly convert it as an additional living space.
On the 1st floor there is a landing between the 2 parts of the house. (It used to be 2 separate houses, today they have been joined into 1 house). Above this landing is also an attic which is not insulated. The attic is accessed via a trapdoor. There is an officedesk on the landing.
Through this landing we enter the bathroom. Beautiful bathroom under the roof. There is a shower, sink and toilet. Behind this bathroom is another room that can be used as a dressing room, office or small bedroom.
Now we're going outside to explore. Through the office behind the living room, we enter a beautiful terrace with views of the surrounding hills. There is also a covered terrace. An outside kitchen can be made here (electricity provided.) There is a garage. A workshop in which the lawn mower and garden tools are stored. (The lawn mower remains and is included in the price. As well as all garden and patio furniture stay in place). There is a shed under which the wood for the wood stove is dried and stored. A little further on, we find a real wine cellar. Consisting of racks and storage space to store bottles, but also a seating area with beautiful old wine barrels where the wine can be tasted. Everything is planned to make it a convivial moment with friends. There is a technical room where the gas bottles for the kitchen are kept, and the 200 litre hot water boiler is also integrated into it.
In the garden there are several beautiful corners and terraces. There are 2 wells whose water can be used to water the garden. In the spring, new gravel will be poured and a swimming pool will be installed. The plot of land is 6456m2. Part of it is a garden, and part of it is a meadow that is used by the farmer (without contract or rent!!) to put the cows.
The house is in a quiet street, no direct neighbors. On the other side of the road is a company that produces cattle food. You have a few noises from time to time, but absolutely no nuisance. Not by smell, not by sound. In the cow meadow there is a high voltage pole (electricity), but it is not visible from the house or the terrace. It is well hidden behind shrubs and trees.
