This apartment is set in the heart of Lectoure, a town of increasing popularity due to its shops, bakeries, restaurants, cinema and theatre being open year-round, unlike some other touristic towns. Closing the door on this active small town one immediately feels the history walking under the arched stone hallway openings – carved into one of the arches is the date it was built - 1606, (the year of the first known performance of William Shakespeare tragedy “King Lear"). To the right just a few steps away is a lovely high-walled enclosed courtyard, with trees, a well, shrubs and a picnic table.
The apartment is located on the second floor up four flights of stairs with beautiful wooden beams, due to the apartments loftiness the apartment allows the sun to flood in through the windows facing north and south, on each side.
One enters the apartment with a further set of doors to insulate the property and to create a reception room for coats and shoes. To the left one finds a spacious living / dining room with a southerly aspect. To the right of the entrance corridor is an office, (or easily converted to a 3rd bedroom if desired), facing north.
Continuing down the corridor to the northerly side is a kitchen with need of some modernisation.
Here is where the corridor splits to a T-junction north – south. To the south side end of the corridor is a double bedroom in good condition, with parquet flooring. Then progressing in a northerly direction first one arrives at the bathroom, with double sink, bath /shower. Next is the separate Wc with sink, followed by a useful storage room with boiler. To the end of the corridor the final room is another double bedroom with 2 sets of windows allowing the light to stream in – overlooking rue Nationale, yet very quiet.
Throughout the apartment the walls are either plasterboard or stonewalls with beton filling.
What we think at Bliss:
As the kitchen could do with a touch of modernisation; why not open the kitchen – bureau and dining / lounge area together to make a large free moving space. The apartment is in good condition throughout, with quiet neighbours and a delightful outdoor space – much sought after in this lovely town. However, as it is up four flights of stairs it should be bought by someone who enjoys light exercise.
