I would like to show you this beautiful house.

In the heart of the Périgord Noir, high in the hills near Daglan, lies Le Canjanfard: a spacious and cozy house, built of the warm yellow natural stone of that region and with so-called São Paulo. Lauzes on the roof. The thick walls keep it pleasantly cool inside in summer. It is surrounded by a rolling landscape of meadows and groves (more than 3 hectares of private land). It is pleasantly quiet. All you hear are the wind, birds and insects and the barking of deer, while it is only a 5-minute drive from shops and restaurants. No direct neighbors and completely out of sight of other houses. From the Route des Truffières, two driveways lead to it. Only at the last moment, when you turn the corner, do you see it.
The house is very suitable for permanent living. It is built on a slope and has three floors (and 11 rooms, not counting the boiler room). Through the hall you enter – on the one hand – a bedroom and bathroom and – on the other hand – the attractive approx. 55 m2 sitting room with monumental fireplace and chestnut beams on the ceiling. On two sides, double doors give access to a spacious, circular south-facing terrace, from where you have a wide view of the opposite hill and, in the distance, the valley of the Céou. A third door leads to the cozy and practical kitchen, with plenty of work space and equipped with all necessary appliances (gas stove with drawers, convection oven, dishwasher) and cupboard space. Also from here you can reach the main terrace through large sliding doors. In this sheltered spot you can still enjoy the sun in winter.
A staircase in the sitting room leads to a corridor on the upper floor, to which two bedrooms, a bathroom and a linen room/walk-in closet adjoin. The master bedroom at the end of the hallway has a high roof with trusses. There was once a fireplace in this room, which could be brought back.
If we descend the stairs, we enter the sous-sol: a cool room of 5 x 7.5 m, which can be set up as a table tennis/fitness room or as a library, for example. It is also possible to create an extra bedroom with bathroom here. An exterior door leads, on the right, to a generous laundry and storage room and, to the left, to a 10-metre-long orangery. In front of the gracefully arched doors of the orangery is a terrace with garden on the edge of a – deeper – meadow. In the evening and at night, deer often come to graze in this meadow. Nb The wooden orangery doors must be removed in due course. Be replaced by new ones.
The outside of the house is difficult to photograph, because it looks different from every angle. It's only at the back that you see how generous it is. In total there are three terraces, of which the one on the west, under a roof (against the warm evening sun), is the largest. This terrace can be used if necessary. Can also be used to store a car.
A few steps from the main house is a picturesque stone outbuilding with a garage and a studio. Here, and/or on the upper floor, additional living, guest or working space could be realized. To its left, a stone staircase leads to a higher field, surrounded by walls, once a wine terrace, on which an original nineteenth-century cabane and a baking oven can still be found. This is an excellent place to build a swimming pool – spacious yet private – although there is also a great place to swim in the nearby river Céou and in the Dordogne. Higher up the hill you will find a pine grove and a kiwi plantation. There are many hiking trails in the area. Extra surprise: truffles can be found in the meadows around Le Canjanfard.
Amenities: in 5 min. You are driving to the gas station and the organic supermarket of St. Cybranet, and it is just as far to the picturesque town of Daglan: in addition to a bakery and a supermarket, there are 2 restaurants, including 'Le Petit Paris' (with Bib Gourmand). A little further on, in the village of Cénac-et-Saint-Julien, there is an abundance of well-equipped shops, as well as a doctor's office. In half an hour (20 km) you are in the capital of the Périgord Noir: the cozy, medieval city of Sarlat-la-Canada.
