Pont Movan mill is part of a charming set of buildings set in a quiet valley at the edge of the Parc naturel régional d'Armorique. The 3 bedroom millers cottage has been renovated and has main power and water. The cottage's double height kitchen is converted from an 4 room house. The property has 4 separate buildings and is surrounded by a large riverside garden. The stone water mill has lots of large windows over 5 floors of high ceiling loft-like space, including a large mezzanine (needs renovation) and would make a striking large house, including a studio, workshop, etc.
The renovated mill cottage was originally two cottages which we connected together into one house with the left hand one becoming a large kitchen with mezzanine and Esse wood fired cookstove in the large fireplace. The right hand cottage was remodelled by joining the two downstairs rooms and passageway into one large family room with added flagstones (with insulation under) to the whole ground floor. The cottage has been rewired and replumbed and has a Morse wood stove in the large granite fireplace in the family room. We created 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the 1st and 2nd floors with 5 new Velux windows on a new slate roof.
The Stables needs to be renovated. There was a large living space above the stables with a fireplace. Stable stalls on the ground with stone cobbles and a tack room at the far end. This building could be converted into a 2 or 3 bed cottage Stpp with the living space on the 1st floor and bedrooms and shower room on the ground floor. The stables were damaged by a large oak tree falling in 2019.
The barn is the oldest building on the site. We replaced the roof. We use the barn for storing garden equipment, bicycles and firewood. The long barn roof faces south and would be ideal to add solar panels to generate electricity for use by the other buildings.
