We're just a stone's throw from Saumur in the heart of the Loire Anjou Touraine Regional Nature Park, close to a small historic Angevin town that we owe to Foulques Nera, a famous lord of the Middle Ages and Count of Anjou in the 10th and 11th centuries, who turned it into a stronghold by building dungeons and fiefs. It is here, in this setting of splendid residences and land covered with vines as far as the eye can see, that this charming 18th century windmill has been completely restored.
Less than 5 minutes away, you'll find a host of shops and amenities (shops, post office, train, services, etc.). Not far away, the major towns of Saumur (18 minutes) and Doué la Fontaine (13 minutes) offer all amenities as well as a wide range of tourist, cultural and sporting activities.

This ingeniously simple former mill dating from 1759 was built of rubble stone, mainly limestone (sandstone and tufa), and topped with a conical dome that once supported the mill's blades.
Covering an area of around 110 sqm, it is accessed by a wide doorway topped by an attractive arched tufa lintel.
On the ground floor, a remarkable living-dining room with a round barrel vault gives way to a lounge area laid out under the conical vault of the mill. With several openings, it diffuses a pleasant light reverberated by the natural light of the tufa stone. This main room leads on either side to a room that has been converted into a bedroom, another with a tufa fireplace serving as a small sitting room or boudoir, which can also be used as a bedroom, and then a kitchen and shower room, all of which provide an intimate setting. The roof terrace is accessed via a charming mezzanine and a stone staircase in the work. The view from this terrace over the surrounding vineyards and one of the finest architectural jewels in Anjou's heritage is quite simply splendid.

The Moulin Cavier vineyard covers just under 2,47 acres. Planted on clay-limestone soil that is particularly favourable to the development of the Cabernet Franc grape variety grown here, and benefiting from optimum sunshine, this estate is run by an independent winegrower who uses responsible viticulture methods. It produces around 4,000 bottles a year of a wine that is widely recognised by professionals in the trade, to the extent that some of these bottles are featured on the menus of renowned gourmet restaurants throughout France.
