Ancenis (Loire-Atlantique)
250 m²
10 rooms
4 bedrooms
Built by a large family from Anjou, in the heart of a charming village, this charming 16th century manor house elegantly soars its high slate roofs, characteristic of the Loire Valley. A witness to the Wars of Religion, this manor house preserves, from the time when it was born, its initial configuration and many elements of its original architecture. The watchman's tower is a reminder of the time when the Duchies protected their borders. A turret on a rendered squirrel containing a small hidden staircase, testifies to the introduction of Renaissance principles at the gates of Brittany. The remarkable staircase of the manor house is located in the tower and has blue schist steps. Its shape, between spiral staircase and return staircase, testifies to the period in transition that saw its birth. The frameworks have probably not changed since the origins of the manor, as their assembly suggests. Now largely renovated and adorned with a spectacular neo-classical inspired décor, the mansion has become a comfortable home steeped in its rich history. The ground floor The entrance to the manor house located on the west side, provides access to the kitchen, the laundry room and the living room. The kitchen has a generous volume to accommodate a large table, ideal for convivial meals. An old over-the-range fireplace is reminiscent of the historic kitchen of the manor. The elements of modern comfort are subtly integrated into this harmonious whole. The living room has a painted ceiling leaving the beams exposed, an eighteenth-century neoclassical fireplace, and oak parquet flooring. A side gallery develops a set of friezes painted in grisaille imitating bas-reliefs. The music room is a large room with comfortable high ceilings, which can be used as a dining room. The French ceiling is reminiscent of the seventeenth century. The walls are decorated with neoclassical painted decoration. Medallions depict mythological scenes. The floor is covered with eighteenth-century terracotta tiles. From the music room, there is access to a small office. The first floor The first floor has three bedrooms with their respective bathrooms and toilets. The floors feature pitchpine parquet floors. A fourth bedroom with a small living room completes this floor. The second floor The second floor includes the unconverted attic, and the lookout's room at the top of the stair tower (to be restored). Cellar & outbuilding A cellar extends partially under the manor house. The nineteenth-century outbuilding consists of two rooms on the ground floor (to be restored in its entirety). Conversion into a garage is possible. Garden The garden is organized in three parts. An Italian-style garden, in the immediate vicinity of the manor house, is based on the plan of a Latin cross formed by pruned yews. A second garden, bounded to the north by a dry stone wall pierced by a haha, opens the garden onto the landscape. A small meadow slopes gently down into a valley. A place steeped in history on a human scale: This historic property is of high quality and presents a harmonious marriage between its architecture and its interior décor. Its position between town and countryside allows a comfortable proximity to many services and allows you to imagine an occupation all year round or for weekends. The possibilities of ...

Nantes (Loire-Atlantique)
460 m²
15 rooms
10 bedrooms
A 19th-century chateau, with its chapel, convertible outbuildings and 25 hectares of grounds, between Nantes and Vannes. Dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, the property includes a little more than 25 contiguous hectares, within a peaceful wooded countryside. From a small public road, the chateau appears at the end of a long 300-metre bridal path planted with deciduous trees. The 460-m² edifice's main façades face east on the courtyard side and west towards the grounds. Built according to a symmetrical plan at the beginning of the 19th century, the central building's eastern side has a slate gable roof and is flanked on either end by two prominent pavilions, each topped with hipped roofs crowned with decorative finials. Creating the link between the two wings is a glass-enclosed winter garden adorned with artistic metalwork, which was added in 1910. The roughcast façades are cadenced by five vertical rows of rectilinear large-paned windows framed by ashlar stone quoins, the central row of which is crowned with a curvilinear pediment. On the building's western side, a triangular pediment above a glass door, which provides access to the grounds, enlivens the façade's austere design, while white-painted wooden louvred shutters safeguard the windows on the first floor. The chateau is surrounded by gravel, followed by vast lawns with the outbuildings and a chapel located to one side, while, on the other, there is a former farm and a number of annexes. The outbuildings comprise a floor area of approximately 660 m² and include, among other things, a stable with horse stalls, a cowshed, a bakehouse, a fruit cellar, a pressing shed, a granary, a barn and a caretaker's cottage. Behind the house is an enclosed vegetable garden of nearly 2,000 m², while the 18 hectares of surrounding mature forests guarantee the property's privacy.

Nantes (Loire-Atlantique)
600 m²
10 rooms
12 bedrooms
A 19th-century chateau, its chapel, outbuildings and 2 5 hectares of enclosed grounds on the outskirts of Nantes. From a B road that connects the neighbouring town to Nantes, a small country lane provides access to a track towards a farm, which then branches off onto a drive bordered by plane trees that leads to the property's wrought-iron entrance gate. The drive then traverses a wooded portion and creates a loop, on one side of which is a chapel and, on the other, former outbuildings, while, towards the back, is the chateau's western exterior. All around, entirely enclosed grounds planted with multi-century trees ensure the property's privacy. Built on a foundation of granite and schist and overlooking a small river, the current chateau dates from the 19th century - although the presence of a dwelling on this land goes all the way back to the 16th century - while its complex layout reveals its successive expansions, with the addition of two right-angle wings, followed by a lateral pavilion. Topped with a slate roof punctuated by dormer windows, it includes a main building, cadenced by three vertical rows of windows, which is extended on either side by a wing with one vertical row of windows. Placed at right angles, the wings form an interior courtyard and give the building its U shape. Abutting the eastern wing at a right angle, a polygonal pavilion in tuffeau stone with three rows of vertical windows projects outwards. While the chateau's roof is adorned with dormer windows topped with triangular pediments, except for the dormer window over the main building's central row of windows, which is crowned with a basket-handle pediment. The chateau's exteriors are coated in lime plaster, except for the pavilion's outer walls, which are made out of tuffeau stone as are the window and door surrounds, quoins, cornices and dormer windows, whereas the chimneys were constructed out of brick and tuffeau stone. Surrounding the chateau, along its façade, eastern wing and up until the pavilion, the ground is covered in fish-scale pavers, while the interior courtyard is clad in ochre travertine slabs.
