The Old Port of Marseilles overlooked by Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde
The oldest city in France and largely open to the Mediterranean, Marseilles has been an important trading port since antiquity, making it a cosmopolitan city and cultural melting pot.
It is also a delightful city with the silhouette of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, the famous Canebière and the picturesque district of the Panier.
Its creeks which stretch over 20 kilometres to Cassis are remarkable sites that are home to an exceptional biodiversity.
Now coming within a National Park, they constantly attract hikers, explorers and water sport enthusiasts.
And for the less sporty... pastis and bouillabaisse at the Old Port!
If you are tempted, please note that the Marseilles real estate market is buoyant and offers very many properties for sale: commercial units, apartments of all sizes at affordable prices and often with a terrace and, for larger budgets, lovely
villas with swimming pool or large country houses.
