The house is well suited to be run as a permanent or Holiday home, B&B or Gite. If left un attended for any period of time, shutters to all external doors and windows can be closed leaving the house safe and secure. During the Summer months we eat and entertain on the large patio which is surrounded by a wide variety of shrubs and bushes that provide vibrant colour all year round. In the garden and woods there are Lemon, Orange, Walnut, Hazel, Fig and Sweet Chestnut trees.
The pool is used from the end of April to late September and features a fully retractable roof. The pool gets the sun all day but has lots of shade and places to sit or lounge. It is in excellent condition, as is the Pump and filtration system.
Woodland paths offer a cool retreat in the Summer and a great place for children and dogs to entertain themselves.
During the Summer Season in Brantome there are many activities to enjoy. Canoeing, Cycling, Walking etc and many more historical towns and places of interest to explore nearby. In addition there are seasonal musical events, fairs, jumble sales and local exhibitions. The Dordogne river is just over an hour away and within a 10 minute drive are some of the prettiest medieval villages in the region, with bars restaurants and the most stunning views. There are plenty of weekly markets to explore. Supermarkets, a Petrol Station, Diy store and a host of independent shops provide all of the necessities. If you need a larger Superstore or a Diy Shed then Chancellade & Perigueux are only a 25 minute drive away.
Airports are situated at Limoges, Bordeaux , Bergerac and Brive and there are train stations at Perigueux and Anguleme. The direct train from Paris Charles de Gaulle taks around 3.5 hours and runs regularly throughout the day to Anguleme.
There is a small amount of work required to fully modernise the house, possibly installing a more modern Kitchen, but this is reflected in the price. We have a fast Broadband service which we use to receive international Tv & Radio. The house remains cool in the Summer and warm in the winter months and there is plenty of space for lots of visitors with up to 10 additional people staying with us at any one time. This house will make the most wonderful home for someone wishing to re locate to Brantome.
